C G D A E tuned 5 String Violin d’amore with 5 playing strings and 10 sympathetics.
The body and string length dimensions are consistent with a standard full sized Violin.
Constructed like a baroque Viola d’amore, this instrument has a flat back made from Walnut, Maple, Mahogany and Cherry veneers which are layered up with the floral marquetry design sawn in. Small bone flower inserts complete the scene.
The soundboard is carved from Spruce and contains a carved and gilded ‘oak leaf’ rosette.
The neck and double-decker pegbox are carved from pear wood with a ‘Green Man’ carved head providing the theme.
The ribs are made from Walnut. Baroque style fingerboard and tailpiece with silver hard-soldered tailpiece attachment.
Ebony pegs and Pine resin / Linseed oil varnish.
